The Atom Lowrider Longboard is a carving machine with a new pintail deck design and super low-profile geometry for incredibly easy pushing. The board features a 9-ply maple wood laminate deck with a photo heat-transfer graphic on the bottom and full-length grip tape on top for traction. The board is set up with 70-millimeter/78A urethane wheels, ABEC 5 bearings, and standard skate trucks. The board's truck position is adjustable and the binding holes are pre-drilled. | 12 of 12 people found the following review helpful  Corrections for some groanworthy reviews., By This review is from: Atom Lowrider Longboard (Sports) The two previous reviewers may have had good intentions, but misleading information.Reviewer 1) The problem is one of two things - only one worthy of any criticism at all: a) Skateboards need to be adjusted. The kingpin nut is adjusted to allow the trucks to turn more/less easily, to taste, and to suit the rider's weight. Your "son" might be a little guy, not weighing much, and might require more than just an adjustment - that's no fault of the manufacturer. If he is: b) The bushings in cheap trucks are often cheap, and more often than not, firm. Compounding that, this board puts the trucks on angles, meaning they will turn tighter when they turn - but it's simple physics that with the kingpins on angles, it takes more effort to turn. That's the trade off, always, with this design. Lighter riders also weigh less, so can provide less force to turn the board. All this adds up to one thing: You probably just need to invest in good, soft bushings for the... The board is great. She can easily maneuver with it and she really likes the ride. I'm 53, weighing over 200lbs. and find it a fun board to lay back on. For my weight the trucks are a little soft but they work great for my girl who weighs about 60lbs. Fun board; we've had it a few days. I'm buying another. Last shipment was fast and the board was well protected. We also purchased Bell Faction helmets and Rollerblade pads. Glad I did. |
